Those were the days...

We've also been doing some research into people's pasts and compiling memories from their favourite childhood destinations. Interestingly we've found that a lot of people wouldn't want to go back for a whole variety of different reasons. One of the main reasons why people wouldn't want to return to their childhood holiday locations is because they feel that the majority of British seaside towns have declined and gone into neglect over recent years. This is an interesting idea that we will be looking into further in the zine but in the meantime, here of some of our favourite photos from the seaside over the years...

Pretty Crap Postcards

We've been researching different postcards that are available at British seaside resorts for one of our features and one thing we've discovered is that most of them are pretty crap. From bleak images of grey seafronts, to the extremely random and just downright weird, we've collected some of the most unusual postcards that really don't make you wish you were here. Here's a preview...
As you can see, we have found Ramsgate to be one of the worst offenders when it comes to having crap postcards and some of them are just downright disturbing. There also a strong cat theme for no apparent reason.

Research Trip to Blackpool

As part of our research into individual seaside resorts and in an attempt to find inspiration for articles in our zine we took a couple of research trips to different seaside locations. I visited Blackpool and took some photos to document my visit and also as a basis for any sketches we might want to make.
